- Craig Jones playfully comments on the reported smoking habits of a UFC celebrity.
- The wrestling icon claims Australian Jack Della Maddalena can't remember his own techniques.
Martial arts icon and promoter Craig Jones couldn’t resist taking a playful jab at Australian welterweight champ Jack Della Maddalena, suggesting that the UFC The star smokes so much weed that he forgets his own moves.
Jones, present at UFC 315 to coach the newly crowned champion on May 10, spoke recently about the accomplishments of this fighter from Western Australia in the realm of mixed martial arts.
Maddalena is renowned for his impressive striking abilities, however, Jones has also been struck by his grappling prowess.
'The first time I trained with Della would have been doing some seminars in Perth Jones mentioned during an interview with The B-Team, YouTube channel.
So our connection lasted for a while, but honestly, I was merely a admirer.
I continually mention this: I’ve taken quite a few tricks from him, but I believe he’s smoked so much weed that he forgets these are actually his moves. So, I end up reteaching them to him — taking all the credit in the process.

The cheeky quip generated a buzz on social media among fight fans, with many X users saying that they are now even bigger fans of the fighter from Down Under.
Following his championship victory over ex-welterweight champion Belal Muhammad, Della Maddalena is soaring and beginning to eye a potential clash with pound-for-pound top-ranked fighter Islam Makhachev.
Just two days following his victory against Muhammad, the UFC announced that Makhachev would relinquish the lightweight title to make the switch to welterweight and face off against the Australian opponent.
"I believe their thought process was something like, if I emerged victorious, that would create the desired confrontation," Della Maddalena stated. ESPN .
'I reckon that’s what they’ll stick with, and I’m looking forward to the match-up; definitely.'
'Top of the rankings, pound for pound, he’s currently the one to beat. So, fulfilling my dream by taking him down and stepping into his shoes.'
Della Maddalena thinks he'll be the one to ultimately put an end to Makhachev's impressive streak in the UFC.
"I am confident that I can keep the action standing up. Even if we end up on the mat, I feel capable of getting back to our feet quickly. However, clearly, the bout begins upright," said Della Maddalena.

'I believe I have his lower body under control; the striking aspect is risky, but I feel my abilities will make me the superior contender tonight.'
'Islam is… perhaps a more refined version of Belal.'
'Seems like he might be superior when it comes to dangerous takedowns, possibly a more skilled boxer too, with a higher fighting intelligence and loads of title fights under his belt. However, I see the Belal bout as ideal preparation for Islam.'
'I reckon I’ll have the edge when it comes to size against Islam, but I anticipate he will perform at his best since he won’t need to make the lightweight weight cut. He’s likely going to bring an improved version of himself into the ring, which means I’m expecting a challenging bout. Still, as mentioned before, I trust my abilities will allow me to secure the victory.'
